| Selecting
the right materials for our products is a requirement. Our
quality and value standards have been one of our priorities for
contracting with new suppliers. The majority of our
jackets, backpacks, fanny packs and accessories are made from lambskin,
which is considered to be one of the softest, most luxurious
leathers in the world. A balance of price and quality
comes into play when we purchase our raw material. We
contract directly with tanneries in Italy for the production of
our lambskin leathers, which are tanned to our color, weight and
origin specifications. We also have contracts with French
tanneries at a smaller level. This method of
direct-purchasing allows us to dictate the quality and delivery
of our goods, and guarantees the most competitive prices in the
market. We only use the best 24 oz. woolens
available for our combination jackets, with local availability
on the most popular colors.
Other products
such as duffel bags, fanny packs and backpacks are also made
from cowhide. This material is purchased
from South American tannery's distributors in the U.S.
Grades and weights vary by product, and are selected according
to the product being manufactured, and our customers input on
what the product's purpose is. Selecting the correct
weight of leather for each product ensures that it will
withstand the intended purpose.
For
budget-oriented projects, we offer jackets, backpacks and fanny
packs made from pigskin. These are
manufactured in China by factories that have been personally
inspected by our purchasing teams. We have tested
the quality and deliveries of more than 50 factories, to which
only 3 passed our rigorous procedures. We have also
inspected these factories to ensure that all applicable labor
laws are met. These products have a longer delivery date
than our regular production, since they have to be shipped by
sea from the orient. For large quantity and low
budget projects, this is a great alternative. |
